Ashalata Equine Therapy

Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Experience is a collaborative effort between a licensed mental health professional, an equine specialist and a horse, to address specific needs or development in individuals, couples, families, youth and corporates.

It is experiential in nature, meaning participants learn about themselves and others by participating in activities with horses and then processing and discussing feelings, behaviours and patterns.  This allows people to affect lasting changes and build skills.

The focus is not on horsemanship or riding but on ground based activities which will require a person to apply certain skills - non verbal communication, assertiveness, creative thinking, problem solving - are some examples.

It is a powerful and effective  approach that has an incredible impact on all who experience it.

EAGLE where horses and activities create a metaphorical link to the client's life.  It is not about riding, controlling or managing horses but about how the horse can empower you.  Horses use body language to communicate in the herd so are naturally able to read human body language and respond appropriately.  This allows the process to be self reflective and powerful.

Equine Assisted Therapy is aimed  at individuals, couples, families and youth requiring assistance with specific emotional difficulties.

It is useful for grievance and trauma counselling, relationship dynamics, friends and family members of substance abusers, family and parenting concerns and any life   issues or challenges a person may be facing.
